Ballpark V2 Speed Figures Calculation

Ballpark figure of the V2 speed

You can dial up this ballpark figure in the MCP during preflt so that you can counter check with the speeds from the AA charts or the EFB later.

These figures are quite accurate for TO1 derate takeoff.

The method are as follows:

Calculate the V2 speed using the same method as Vref.
240T, 140kt.
For every 10T, add or minus 3kt.
Or for every 3T, add or minus 1kt.

For TOW above 300T, you can use the following method:
300T=160kt,
350T=170kt and
400T=180kt.
For figure in between, you can interpolate, ie. every 10T, add or minus 2kt.

  • Normal : 340 / 0.85
  • Max Angle : V2 + 100 / 0.84 / Vref30 + 80 + 20
  • Max Rate : V2 + 140 / 0.82 / Vref30 + 80 + 60

  • Mno = 0.90 M
  • Altimeter (Gnd to 5,000ft) =
  • >> 35 ft between Capt & FO
  • >> 75 ft between Elevation & Capt / FO
  • Altimeter (10,000ft) =
  • >> 40 ft between Capt & FO
  • >> 75 ft between Elevation & Capt / FO
  • Altimeter (In Flt) = 200 ft between Capt & FO
  • VSI (Gnd) = 0 fpm

Descent (250kias @ FL100) :

  • 200 | (25 x 3) + 15 = 90
  • 100 | (10 x 3) + 15 = 45
